I have the honour to inform you that on proposing you as an Honorary Member of the
Royal Society of Literature in the Council this day, the proposition was signed by every Member present; and though the forms of the Institution require a fortnight to intervene between such nomination and the Election I am authorized by the Council to signify to you that your Election will certainly take place on the earliest day, the 27th curt
It has afforded me
[2] personally, much pleasure to be able to initiate this mark of respect to an Author whom I so greatly admire, and I beg to assure you of my high esteem.
The proper certificate shall be forwarded to you.
