Monday Morning
My dear Sir
I have just received a note from the Editor of The New Monthly Magazine to say that it would give him great pleasure to insert a notice of your work, provided it were sent by the 16th instant. If you like, therefore, I will send him a short [2] review of him it. I should merely wish to say enough of it to excite, without satisfying, curiosity. This will put the publishers on the qui vive, or, if you should agree with one in the interim, will materially add to the demand for the work. If you will have the goodness to write a short note to say whether you would like this to be done, my servant shall call tomorrow [3] morning about 11. The New Monthly has, I think, the largest circulation of any of our Magazines. The present Editor is Mr Bulwer, an M. P., whom you may have heard of as The Author of Pelham.
I remain, with profound respect, yours faithfully.
A. Hayward
